Day Trips from St Louis - Updated 7/5/2023

CAPE GIRARDEAU DAY TRIP
just a couple of hours south of St. Louis....
Want to add more variety to your activities, why not visit Cape Girardeau! Trail of Tears State Park Nice, large park to visit, camp in, hike in, and more! Great overlook of the Mississippi River! The interpretive Center is wonderful, in depth, with resourceful employees! Port Cape We stumbled upon this restaurant only to learn that it was an historic site, Grant's office was in this building during the Civil War! Grant is one of our daughter's history interest! So, she was excited to learn about this! Great food, nice variety, ice cream for dessert. Can't beat it! And, just across the street is the flood wall loaded with murals. On the other side.....The Mississippi!

EDWARDSVILLE DAY TRIP
just 20 minutes from downtown....
Glen Carbon Heritage Museum Tour the Glen Carbon Heritage Museum housed in the old Glen Carbon School building (FEE free). So much to see in this school building - school scene from the early 20th century including a fire escape from the time period, toys, quilts, weaving looms, mining equipment and more! Yanda Log Cabin Tour a log cabin from 1853! This family raised 10 children in this log cabin! Yikes! Anyway, check the tour schedule. We only saw the cabin from the road; it was closed when we visited Glen Carbon. Appears to be open on 3rd Saturday's of the month.

DAY TRIP DESTINATIONS (MAY NEED MORE THAN A DAY!)
Laura Ingalls Wilder Home Have any of your children been reading Laura Ingalls Wilder books lately? Why not reward that with a special trip to her home? We haven't visited yet, but plan to soon.
